Sep 20, 2010. #1. I have a 1997 300 Tdi disco and recently the heater has stopped working. The fans working fine and blows cold air no problem but even on the hotest setting it is only blowing mildly lukewarm air. Does anyone have any ideas at all please and is it likely to be a difficult/expensive job. Many thanks.

Aside from a few teething problems, the Td5 is a quieter Land Rover engine, performs better at high crusing speeds, and has very similar overall performance. However, Land Rover still retained the 300Tdi for export models and the military. Td5 service kit. Check out this list of items that are required as a "service kit" for the Td5. Head Gasket Failure. The most common problem with the Td5 engines is head gasket failure. It would become apparent from: engine overheating. white smoke from the exhaust pipe. low coolant level. the milky white color of engine oil. and sometimes bubbling sound coming from the radiator and coolant reservoir. LR used plastic dowels to marry the Sourcing your engine. 300TDi engines come in various forms - manual or automatic, EGR or non EGR, and the very late ones have fly by wire throttle. What you ideally want is a non-EGR engine from a manual Discovery. Automatic engines can be converted to manual but you will need to source a manual flywheel and housing, along with all the bolts.
Hi Guys I know this isnt a rare problem but just looking for some clarity. I have a 98 300tdi disco 1 auto with EDC. After having cold starting problems for a while I've just changed the lift pump and the glow plugs and for a few glorious weeks the landy has been starting first time every time.

I have determined my 300 tdi engine oil leak is coming from the oil pressure warning light sender; it appears to be dripping from the electrical contact area. I ordered PRC6387 but have found the treads are wrong - too big. The threads on my leaking sender appear to be M10, and the part is tapered at the end. Anyone else run into this problem?

Hi everyone. My 300tdi has developed a problem which I'm having trouble diagnosing. When started from cold, she coughes and splutters into life and runs quite rough, with grey smoke pouring from the exhaust. If I drive off down the road, I find that she is completely gutless at low revs.
