I for one think that i'm describing Half-Life: Alyx perfectly. Compared to previous entries with the possible exception of Half-Life 1, which also didn't do as well as Half-Life 2, Half-Life: Alyx feels like a fine VR-game but a garbage Half-Life game and probably was made to have a game to market the Valve Index-kit with.

It's definitely worth the price. It's sort of a horror game, but not really. It's more like enjoyable training wheels for VR that's kinda scary. It's not nearly as scary as playing Resident Evil 7 on a flat screen. Some people prefer Half Life 2 with VR mod, but that can be a little much if you're still getting used to VR. No, the Quest 3 won't be able to play Half-Life 2 with the graphical fidelity of a pc, even at low settings. There's a lot of squiggly room in the word "port" though. Method 1: Using Oculus Link The most common and widely used method to play PC VR games like Half-Life: Alyx on your Oculus Quest 2 is by using Oculus Link. Yet Half Life Alyx is more slow paced. I guess considering it was developed early on in VR before more recent, faster VR titles Valve assumed that VR would need to be faster paced or people would get nauseous or something. Also missing things like melee combat and switching hands it seems.

Valve selects the best features of VR action games and takes them to another level. Half-Life: Alyx is not innovative in choosing what is needed for the perfect virtual reality experience – between interactivity of the environment, gestural use of firearms or environmental puzzles – but it is in putting together everything in the style of Half-Life. 4.
