Space Marine Captains are first and foremost warriors expected to lead from the front and they are powerful enough for their personal combat prowess to be able to affect the outcome of a battle involving thousands of combatants. They lead by example and command their troops with absolute authority. Painting my Iron Warriors is pretty simple, until you get to the hazard stripes. The troop bases are best painted on the sprue, where as the tanks and dreadnoughts can be assembled and painted. I started with a black undercoat and then airbrushed them with Leadbelcher. Add white to Ushbati bone for the parchment and decoration. 8.Paintrbush Oil Wash, Burnt Umber. Place burnt umber into the deepest recesses of the face and leave to cure for 5- 6 hours. Then using a brush dampened with white spirit gently pull the colour out to create a subtle blend. And voila! Iron Warriors.
Another tip for painting black. Don't highlight with white/grey. In fact, mix a little of another colour into the base, a green/blue/red/brown etc to give something else to the core colour in the army. It's a little visual interest. Then use this same colour, or a lighter shade of it, to mix in and bring your highlights in.

Just started painting a unit of Warriors with the mark of Nurgle. Here is how I do it. Prime with white. Paint the entire model deneb stone. Paint weapon and leather with bestial brown, make sure to leave the wrappings stone, and I keep the chainmail parts stone but you can paint the brown as well. Fur gets painted vomit brown.
